Current Role at QuesTek

Christopher P. Kern has an extensive background in ferrous and mechanical metallurgy. As a Senior Materials Deployment Engineer, his work focuses on ensuring the successful transition of QuesTek alloys from the prototype scale to commercial production and application. Working closely with OEMs, he oversees the manufacturing of components from QuesTek alloys at every step of the process, both at prototype and production-scale, and leads efforts to qualify and implement the components in demanding applications and industries.

Background and Specialization

In his earlier role at QuesTek as Manager of Engineering and Laboratory Services, Mr. Kern has been the project manager for numerous government and commercial projects, and has been responsible for external specification development activities of Ferrium S53® including: UNS numbering; AMS publication; and approval of A- and B-basis design allowables for inclusion in MMPDS Handbook.

He is an active member of SAE International, including Aerospace Materials Specification subcommittees and the Aerospace Metals and Engineering Committee

He is the author or creator of numerous publications and presentations, including for example technical articles in Gear Technology and Fastener Technology International, and numerous presentations to the SAE Aerospace Materials Specification Committee, the Defense Manufacturing Conference, and elsewhere.
