High Performance Materials
QuesTek has spent more than two decades using Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) to designing new materials with demonstrated improvements in performance over well-known, commodity materials. Several QuesTek alloys, like our high performance Ferrium® steels, are licensed, commercially available, and already adopted in numerous demanding applications.
Others, such as a castable single crystal nickel, nitridable stainless bearing steel, high strength castable titanium or high performance alloys for additive manufacturing, have moved from lab scale demonstration to intermediate production (>1,000 lbs) and testing. These alloys are currently under development and qualification work, and we are actively seeking applications and interested end-users and commercialization partners to increase the TRL for market adoption.
See below for more details on all of our materials available.
Commercially Available
QuesTek has licensed a family of ultra-high performance, double vacuum melted steels that are commercially available, aerospace qualified (AMS, MMPDS) and used in a variety of demanding applications in aerospace, oil and gas, and high-performance racing markets.
New Alloys for Additive Manufacturing
QuesTek has worked on over 50 projects in metal additive manufacturing to combine performance with printability by improving upon legacy alloys or with novel designs. Several of these alloys have achieved Technology Readiness Levels of 3 to 5 in aluminum, steel, and titanium (see list below).
Available for License
QuesTek has designed and demonstrated other high-performance materials that are at Technology Readiness Levels of 3 to 4 in high hardness stainless steel, high toughness castable stainless steel, low-cost castable single-crystal nickel, and high-strength/toughness castable titanium.
