Prof. Gregory B. Olson received his Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT in 1974 and is currently the Walter P. Murphy Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University. He is a co-founder of QuesTek and the developer of QuesTek’s Materials By Design® technology. He serves as the Company’s Chief Science Officer and is internationally recognized as a leader in the design of new materials and pioneer in the field of Integrated Computational Materials Engineering. He is the author of more than 200 publications and has delivered hundreds of conference presentations world-wide.
Chuck Laff received his JD from Harvard Law School in 1958 and is now a partner in the firm Michael Best & Friedrich LLP. He has over 40 years of experience representing clients in all phases of intellectual property law. Much of his work relates to intellectual property litigation, where he has been lead trial and appellate counsel in hundreds of lawsuits involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and unfair competition in federal and state courts throughout the United States.
Prof. Diran Apelian is widely recognized for his innovative work in metal processing and as a researcher and educator. After receiving his Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT, he joined Bethlehem Steel where he co-developed the Ultra-Form series of high strength low alloy steels. He joined Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in 1990 as the Institute’s Provost; after which he headed the Metal Processing Institute at WPI, an industry-university alliance with Centers in Metal Casting, Heat Treating, and Resource Recovery and Recycling that has developed into one of the nation’s premiere research centers dedicated to metal processing. His research has helped establish mechanisms and fundamentals in metal processing.
Mr. Dennis Kessler is the President and founder of Midwest Family Business Advisors, which consults with businesses regarding strategic planning and business continuation strategies. Dennis also works with businesses regarding their Board of Directors and Governance issues. Dennis has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Engineering Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. From 1964 to 1998, Dennis was employed by Fel-Pro Inc. where he served as Co-President and served as CEO for International Operations and President of the Ventures Group of companies including Force Imaging Technology.
Dr. Aziz Asphahani is the CEO of QuesTek Innovations LLC and previously spent 19 years in the Specialty Metals Industry with Haynes International, where he served as Vice President, General Manager and R&D Director. He holds 8 patents. Dr. Asphahani’s degrees include Diplome Ingenieur-Physics from Ecole Centrale de Paris and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from MIT. Aziz is also a past president of ASM International and past Chair of its Educational Foundations.
Dr. Raymond F. Decker is the co-founder and CTO of Thixomat/nanoMAG. He has specialized in Nickl-Base Superalloys for more than 50 years and is the co-inventor of Maraging Steels. He is an Adjunct Professor of Material Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan where he earned his Ph.D. Ray is a past President of ASM International and past Chair of its Foundation. His lates invention is BioMg 250, a bioabsorbable magnesium alloy implant to fix orthopaedic trauma. Another recent invention is TTMP Mg alloy, now in commercial use in DonJoy lightweight orthopadic knee braces.
Mr Raymond Genellie is a co-founder of QuesTek Innovations LLC and serves as its Vice President of Operations. He has more than 35 years of experience in financial and management position in both for-profit and not-for-profit businesses. After service in the U.S. Navy, Ray received a Master of Science degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University in 1979 and served as an instructor in the Dept. of Finance.
