QuesTek is currently working with
race teams in Drag, Off Road and NASCAR to test both standard gears
and novel gear designs, and ring and pinions manufactured from its
Ferrium
®
C61 alloy. Gears and ring and pinions for both Drag and Off Road have successfully
run in races during August and September 2003 and are in post race evaluation.
In Off Road racing, Steve Roberts of DECO Motor Sports finished 5th in the SCORE race at Prims, NV using QuesTek's 091 ring and pinion in a Dave Folz prepped gear box. The Meijer #11 car, with crew chief Howie Lettow, has fared well this year utilizing a Rolltek transmission with narrow gears made from C61 and Buckshot Jones qualified 14th at the EA Sports 500 race held in Talladega, AL using Andrews Racing 0.5 inch qualifying gears made from C61.
