MATERIALS DESIGN
QuesTek
designs materials that meet your performance requirements. Our primary
expertise is in alloys. Utilizing our
Materials
by Design®
technology, we have successfully designed steel, aluminum and
shape memory alloys for clients’ needs and have extensive experience
designing materials for aerospace, racing, cutlery, sporting goods and
a variety of military applications.
QuesTek
begins its design process by working closely with our clients to define the
material performance requirements in a very specific, detailed manner. Once
the performance requirements have been established, QuesTek prepares a
comprehensive system flow-block diagram that sets forth material processing steps
and material structures and properties required to meet the performance goals
and moves rapidly to select alternative material designs. During this stage,
we again meet with the customer to insure that any necessary material
property and processing trade-offs are included in the design.
Once a
design is agreed upon with the customer, several prototypes are made to
evaluate the chosen design. This insures that we test the limits of the
material’s performance in the real world considering typical
manufacturing variation. Once again, we meet with the customer to insure that
the final design of the material meets the specific performance criteria.
The final
step of the process is to manufacture production scale heats to insure that
we are meeting performance specifications. QuesTek’s technology and
approach insures that there will be few, if any, scale up problems when the
material is put into production.
QuesTek
can rapidly and cost effectively design a material that meets your needs.
